Laura’s Top 3 Intermittent Fasting Wins
Laura has experienced many wins with intermittent fasting but her top three are as follows:
- #1 WEIGHT LOSS – Laura hit her weight loss goals. She lost 21 pounds and went from a Size 8 to a a Size 2 with intermittent fasting!
- #2 INCREASED ENERGY – No more after lunch slump. Intermittent fasting provides Laura with a solid and sustainable energy level throughout the day.
- #3 FLEXIBILITY – the beauty of intermittent fasting truly is the flexibility. It allows you to live your life, make social exceptions so you don’t feel deprived. If you want to break your fast early so you can go to lunch or brunch with friends – YOU ABSOLUTELY CAN and SHOULD!
I think Laura said it beautifully when she said “Intermittent Fasting is the MAGIC I needed to make me feel like myself again.”
Preferred Intermittent Fasting Method – OMAD
Laura has found fantastic success using the OMAD or One Meal a Day intermittent fasting method. She generally limits her eating window to about four hours, so Laura tends to follow the 20:4 fasting schedule, or what some call the Warrior Diet.
Since Laura is an elementary teacher, she has found it quite easy to fast throughout the day since she is so busy at work teaching her students. Laura generally breaks her fast for the day around 6:30 pm and closes her eating window around 10:00 pm.
Biggest Challenge with Intermittent Fasting
Laura’s biggest challenge with intermittent fasting has been dealing with the negative comments and judgmental reactions about fasting she often receives from others. “It does not make me really want to talk about it because I do feel like I am met with judgement from a lot of people – even close friends and family members.”
Fasting Window Favorites
Laura chooses to “FAST CLEAN” during her fasting window – YAY! She’s never been much of a coffee drinker but she absolutely loves green tea, which is fantastic for getting rid of that metallic taste and fighting bad breath when following an intermittent fasting diet.
Eating Window Favorites
Laura is a regular meat eater. She enjoys keeping things simple and often sticks to a high-protein, low-carb diet. Her favorite dinner meals include chicken, salmon, and steak, often paired with vegetables like broccoli.
She has two quick go-to healthy dinner options that she often turns to if she’s had a long day at work and needs to make something that’s quick and easy. Her two favorite go-to quick dinner choices are:
- Chicken in a bowl with a little salsa and guacamole
- Scrambled eggs
Laura also has a new favorite eating-window snack. She no longer eats potato chips and has replaced her carb-loaded potato chip habit with low-carb pork rinds. Her favorite flavor is the “Sea Salt and Cracked Black Pepper” by Southern Recipe.
Fast-Breaking and Window-Closing Favorites
Laura has enjoyed breaking her fast with Jen’s Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) Fast-Breaking weight loss drink and even found, through her tracking, that she had lost a mind-blowing 3-4 pounds a week when she was consistent with it.
You can snag your own copy of Jen’s GAME-CHANGING ACV weight loss drink recipe right here.
Laura enjoys ending her eating window in the evening with a nice glass of wine. And, if she’s still feeling a little hungry before bed, she loves closing out her window with a satisfying THINK KETO protein bar. (Jen’s #affiliatelink)
Additionally, Laura has found that using the “Notes App” on her phone helps her stay motivated. She holds herself accountable with fasting, by tracking her weight, eating window, and fasting window, daily.
Exercise Routine
So, can you really lose weight without exercise?
YOU BET YOU CAN! It’s incredible that Laura was able to lose weight with intermittent fasting, even without a formal exercise routine or program.
This, to me, is proof of the power of intermittent fasting and is encouraging to know that weight loss success can be achieved even without spending hours in the gym – even for a woman over 40. WooHoo!
LAURA’S SHINIEST GEM
- Laura believes that MINDSET and COMMITMENT are ABSOLUTE MUSTS when it comes to success with intermittent fasting. It’s important to understand that intermittent fasting IS NOT A DIET, and instead, it is a LIFESTYLE – so DECIDE, COMMIT, and SUCCEED!
