How Lisa Does Fasting ON-THE-GO
Lisa and her husband, Bryan thought they were done having kids, but then, shortly before Covid they were blessed with their third daughter, Tessa, who changed the whole course of their lives.
Lisa knew she wanted to spend more time at home with her family, so first she began homeschooling her daughters. Then, the Good Lord provided the financial means necessary though her husband’s job to make a big change.
So, in 2021 Lisa made some pretty big lifestyle changes. She began intermittent fasting, sold her home and just about everything in it (except for 6 bins of stuff that they keep at a friend’s house) and embarked on a cross-country adventure with her family of five.
And, for the last several years that Lisa has been traveling, she has kept right on fasting because she absolutely loves the way it makes her feel.

Lisa’s Top Intermittent Fasting Wins
When I asked Lisa to give me her Top 3 intermittent fasting wins, she struggled to mention just three because she said that fasting has blessed her with so many wins.
And, although Lisa has used “IF” to effectively maintain her weight as a middle-aged woman, she mentioned so many OTHER WINS that had absolutely nothing to do with the scale!
Lisa’s TOP INTERMITTENT FASTING WINS include:
- IMPROVED OVERALL HEALTH – Lisa believes that her biggest win with fasting is her improved overall health and her boosted immune system.
- FASTING JUST MAKES LIFE SO MUCH EASIER – Lisa is a very routine-minded person and has found that “IF” is fabulous for keeping her on a schedule/routine, especially as she lives a very nomadic lifestyle.
- MENTAL CLARITY – Lisa absolutely LOVES the mental clarity that comes with living an intermittent fasting lifestyle. In fact, she sold her home and prepared for her cross-country adventures all in the “fasted state.”
- IMPROVED SLEEP – Lisa is amazed at how much better she sleeps since she began fasting.
Preferred Intermittent Fasting Methods
Lisa likes to mix things up when it comes to fasting on-the-go and has found that using a variety of “IF” methods works quite well for her.
She really enjoys OMAD or One Meal a Day Fasting because she is very busy with her travels and finds it to be a very easy routine to follow. However, Lisa almost always fasts for a minimum of 16 hours a day and also tries to get in a longer 24 hour fast each week if she can.
Finally, Lisa has done enough “fasting trial and error” to know that switching to ADF (Alternate-Day Fasting on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays) is extremely effective if she needs to drop a few pounds or bust through a stubborn weight loss plateau.
Biggest Challenge with Intermittent Fasting
Lisa’s doesn’t have many challenges when it comes to fasting, however, she has struggled with a few.
First, she has found a few challenges as a woman in her mid-forties going through certain hormonal (perimenopause) changes. Next, Lisa says when she’s busy and slightly stressed, she is tempted more and sometimes just wants to eat a bunch of cookies. I mean, who doesn’t, really? LOL.
Finally, Lisa has recently had some unexpected weight gain but she feels great and most importantly, is learning to embrace and feel comfortable with her body.
Additionally, she feels confident that she now has the tools (ADF, occasional extended fasts) to lose those few extra pounds whenever she’s mentally ready. But for now, she does not feel at all restricted or deprived and is loving the flexibility of fasting on the road.
Fasting Window Favorites
Lisa enjoys keeping her fasting window CLEAN and SIMPLE. She generally sticks to plain black coffee, green tea, pure Lacroix mineral water and lots of water.
She’s even gotten so used to “IF” that she doesn’t miss eating breakfast at all, despite making breakfast for her family every morning.
“I’m perfectly content with my clean fasting drinks while I cook and my family eats.”
Eating Window Favorites
As a family, Lisa has been blessed with the opportunity to enjoy many different restaurants and breweries across America. However, most of the time Lisa’s family prioritizes healthy, nutrient-dense food that they prepare at home.
Lisa’s favorites include homemade protein-packed soups and chili’s in the winter. She also enjoys eating two eggs a day and loves making her own sourdough bread.
Lisa often breaks her fast for the day with an extremely healthy CHICKPEA Salad. YUM!

Sometimes, she even puts her eggs over the salad for an added dose of healthy protein.
Lisa’s Exercise Routine
Lisa enjoys outdoor activities and almost always prefers to exercise in the “fasted” state.

Some of Lisa’s favorite ways to exercise outdoors include cross country skiing, downhill skiing, boating, and hiking. In fact, Lisa and her family have visited 38+ National Parks and hiked some of the biggest mountains in North America.
With Lisa’s fasting on-the-go routine, she doesn’t have a gym that she can consistently go to so she often searches Google and YouTube for “workouts for small spaces.” She’s found some great 15-25 minute pilates workout videos that are FREE and that gets the job done!
