As a woman, WAY over 40, In just 4 months, I lost 46 pounds and have been easily maintaining and loving my life!

This weight loss tip is #1 on my list for a very good reason. It’s because Intermittent Fasting TOTALLY WORKS! OMG! Can I just say that intermittent fasting has COMPLETELY changed my life. Personally, I believe it is the BEST WAY to achieve long term sustainable weight loss.

2. Drink it Black
Yup! Just do it! By making small changes like taking all the crap out of your coffee and drinking it black, you will quickly be on your way to a healthier lifestyle.
Coffee is one of the easiest ways to achieve so many amazing benefits like lowering our risk for some diseases including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Cancer and Cirrhosis. In addition, coffee can increase your metabolic rate and boost energy levels. However, we throw all that goodness out the window when we dump in sugars, creamers, syrups and oils. If you are struggling with the black coffee taste, try adding a pinch of salt to your morning mug. It totally reduces the bitterness and enhances the coffee’s natural flavors.

4. Stop Snacking Before Sweating
Life is short and trying to find the time to squeeze 30-60 minutes of regular physical activity in each day can be overwhelming! I don’t know about you but If I’m going to take valuable time out of my VERY BUSY day to exercise, I want to feel confident that I am going to LOSE MORE BODY WEIGHT & WASTE LESS TIME!
For many years, we’ve been advised by all the experts to energize our bodies by fueling it with a carb and/or protein-rich snack or smoothie in preparation for an upcoming workout session. I personally spent decades following this advice after reading multiple news articles, diet books, and fitness magazines touting this information. However, now that I have learned about the power of intermittent fasting, I know that eating before a workout is NOT the best weight loss and exercise strategy for me and it might not be the best for you either!
There are so many conflicting weight loss and exercise opinions, which is why I’m not going to “insert” some “fluff medical study” just to try to prove my credibility. Plain and simple – I am just going off my own personal beliefs and experiences and fasted exercise has totally worked for me. 6. Cut Down on Carbs
Try eating a low-carb diet. This is another simple weight loss tip that worked extremely well for me.
After adopting an intermittent fasting lifestyle and finally starting to lose some weight, I found myself feverishly searching for any tip or strategy that would help speed up the process. After many hours of searching and many days of trying different strategies, I finally landed on a clear winner!
My search led me to discovering an amazing book called The Obesity Code, by Jason Fung. Holy Game-Changer! Yup, another one! I had already previously read two life-changing weight loss books, so when I found this one, I felt as if I had uncovered the final information piece I needed to succeed with my weight loss journey.
The Obesity Code helped me to learn all about the health benefits of eating low-carb foods, especially in combination with living an intermittent fasting lifestyle. The science behind it just made sense to me and I knew I had to give it a shot!
WOW! Talk about expediting my weight loss efforts! After jumping right into this newly discovered strategy of: Combining Fasting with Low-Carb Eating, I began doubling my average weekly weight loss. This translated to consistently losing close to four pounds almost every single week. And before I knew it, I had lost 46 pounds in just 4 months!

7. Mind Your Mind
It’s natural to get sucked into diet culture thinking. This is why placing a great deal of importance on mental health when it comes to weight loss is an absolute must.
There will be naysayers and plenty of them. As you begin to lose weight, others, who may be jealous that you are looking and feeling great, will often spew negative comments! You have to get right with your mind and surround yourself with supportive and positive people that build you up.
If I had listened to all of the negativity that I encountered throughout my journey I never would have reached the goals that I have and I wouldn’t feel as fantastic as I do now!
A great way to keep yourself motivated, pumped up and positive is by listening to motivational weight loss and health podcasts and joining and interacting with others inside social media support groups.

8. Drink Sparkling Water
Oh my Goodness! Once I started drinking plain sparkling water, fasting became an absolute breeze! I don’t exactly know what it is but the bubbles and the carbonation does something truly magical inside your tummy.
It not only curbs your appetite and gets rid of those nagging hunger pangs, it legit, makes you feel like you are having a fancy soda (or “pop” as we like to call it here in the mid-west). It is my favorite way to make sure I am getting plenty of water throughout the day. Even better, with sparkling water, I no longer crave sugary beverages.
My favorite sparkling water brands are: LaCroix “Innocent” (blue can) and “Belle Vie” (this brand can only be found at ALDI Grocery Stores). I love them both because they are super yummy and super cheap! Just make sure it is plain so it DOES NOT BREAK YOUR FAST!
9. Eat a Tablespoon of Organic Coconut Oil Daily
I am convinced that coconut oil is, indeed, a superfood and a tablespoon of coconut oil a day absolutely helps keep the weight gain away! Coconut oil is a very healthy fat and I am convinced that healthy fats, such as olive oil, should definitely be included in our healthy weight loss routines.
After doing a ton of research on the benefits of coconut oil, I began taking 1-2 Tablespoons of Organic Coconut Oil per day about two months into my weight loss journey. Once I began adding coconut oil to my daily routine, my weight loss results skyrocketed and my overall health improved immensely.
The weight loss benefits and results of ingesting 1-2 tablespoons of organic Coconut Oil daily are nothing short of mind-blowing. Coconut oil is a very healthy fat that contains zero carbs. Studies have shown that coconut oil is “thermogenic” which means eating it tends to rev up your metabolism and increase fat burning in the body. Coconut oil also boosts energy levels, reduces your appetite and keeps you feeling full. In addition, it can help keep your hormones balanced, regulate blood sugar and reduce abdominal fat.
Some of my favorite ways to incorporate coconut oil into my daily routine include:
- Cook and bake with Coconut Oil. Swap out the use of butter and other cooking and baking oils for coconut oil.
- Add 1-2 Tablespoons of coconut oil to your favorite WEIGHT LOSS SMOOTHIE.
- Add it to your coffee for an instant healthy and super yummy creamer replacement.
- Drizzle melted coconut oil over yogurt or popcorn. Just pop a spoonful or two of coconut oil into the microwave and heat for about 20 seconds. It will completely change to a liquid form. Drizzle away and enjoy the yumminess!

Please DO NOT BUY those as they will not be nearly as effective! I absolutely LOVE the KIRKLAND ORGANIC COCONUT OIL because it is both cost effective and it really does work!
10. Eat Veggies Like a Boss
Choosing to dive in and EAT VEGGIES LIKE A BOSS is one of the easiest and most effective ways to lose weight quickly while keeping calorie intake to a minimum. The reason for this is because vegetables are nutrient-dense. They are very high in water and fiber and overall have fewer calories than most foods.
High Fiber whole foods like veggies are key for weight loss because they move through the digestive tract slowly. This keeps us feeling fuller for longer and when we are intermittent fasting this is a huge benefit! We also don’t absorb calories from fiber, so it just provides satisfying volume. In addition, fiber also slows blood sugar and spikes in insulin, which can also slow down the storage of fat.
Some of my very favorite weight loss vegetables include: CAULIFLOWER, MUSHROOMS, KALE, PUMPKIN, ZUCCHINI, SQUASH, SPINACH, BROCCOLI and ROMAINE LETTUCE! I

11. Start Using these 4 Weight Loss Spices
Did you know that jazzing up your food with spices may help whittle down your waist and help make weight loss easier? Studies have shown that certain herbs and spices have the ability to help us shed extra pounds just by adding them to the foods we already love to eat.
I want to encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and try adding a variety of different herbs and spices to your meals. Not only will these spices turn your meals from BLAH to HURRAH, they have the potential to help supercharge your weight loss efforts.
Four spices that will add some serious sizzle to your taste buds while simultaneously helping your reach your weight loss goals are: CINNAMON, TURMERIC, GINGER and CAYENNE PEPPER! So, go ahead, and start sprinkling them on all of your favorite foods.

12. Drink Green Tea Daily
There are so many massive benefits of green tea that can help to improve your health, while shrinking your waistline and lowering your body weight.
So, why not grab your favorite mug, sit back and enjoy a cup of this antioxidant-rich plant-based magnificent beverage!
13. Snooze to Lose
This specific weight loss tip often gets overlooked. Did you know that the amount of sleep we get each night is directly related to reaching (or not reaching) our weight loss goals? Researchers say poor sleeping patterns can lead to weight gain and an increase in body mass index.
Getting fewer than 6-7 hours of sleep each night is considered SHORT SLEEP! Short sleep has been repeatedly linked to weight gain, greater waist circumference, accumulation of belly fat and a higher BMI or body mass index. In addition, “Short Sleep People” have a 41 percent risk of becoming obese.
Lack of sleep also negatively affects hunger hormone levels. It increases ghrelin, which makes you feel hungry, and decreases Leptin, which makes you feel full. In turn, these disrupters often influence a person to crave and consume more sugary and highly processed foods. In addition, poor sleep has also been linked to the increase of cortisol, a hormone that is related to stress.
Getting enough sleep can help MODERATE YOUR APPETITE and it also may help you to MAKE HEALTHIER FOOD CHOICES. Interestingly, getting enough sleep each night can also BENEFIT YOUR METABOLISM. The length of your sleep may also have an effect your on RMR (Resting Metabolic Rate) or the number of calories your body burns when at rest.

14. Take A Chill Pill
Did you know that stress can significantly impact your ability to lose weight? Yup, it’s totally true! When we are “freaking out”, cortisol levels in our bodies rise. Cortisol is a stress hormone and stress hormones can easily lead to not-so-good changes in our appetite.
When the body has increased cortisol levels, higher insulin levels can also occur. Then, blood sugar drops and cravings for sugary, fatty, crappy foods take over. I’m not going to get into all the science surrounding this but if you are a “knowledge is power geek” like me, I encourage you to do some research on this for yourself.
Stress is everywhere in the world and we absolutely cannot escape it altogether. However, we can be intentional about managing it by incorporating specific strategies that work best for us and our individual situations. So, relax, take a few deep breaths, and don’t let your bottle of “chill pills” get too low!
15. Eat More Pickles
Now here is a very delicious weight loss tip for you. Did you know that pickles have some pretty exciting health and weight loss benefits. Pickles have the ability to boost gut health, help reduce body inflammation, control blood sugar levels, relieve bloating and so much more.

16. Eat More Meat
Protein is an essential nutrient that plays an extremely vital role in our daily lives as it helps build and repair muscle tissue, provides energy, and supports a healthy immune system. However, when it comes to weight loss, protein is often overlooked as a key component in a healthy diet.
Eating a high-protein diet helps support muscle mass and successfully maintain weight loss. Protein BOOSTS METABOLISM, INCREASES SATIETY, REGULATES APPETITE and REDUCES CRAVINGS, BUILDS MUSCLE MASS, SUPPORTS A HEALTHY IMMUNE SYSTEM, AIDS IN EXERCISE RECOVERY and REGULATES WEIGHT LOSS HORMONES!

17. Strength Train 2-3 Days a Week
Another great strategy for getting the biggest BANG for your BUCK when it comes to weight loss is to add in a bit of STRENGTH TRAINING to your exercise routine.
Cardio exercises are great but I do believe it is important to add in 2-3 days of strength training, as well. Strength training will also help your body burn extra calories after your workout is over.
My preferred way to add strength training to my routine is through the use of KETTLEBELLS. I usually just search “Kettlebell workouts” on YouTube a few times a week and GET TO IT. I first started with a 10 pound kettlebell for my workouts. Then, I slowly worked up to a 15 pounder and now I think I am almost ready for a 20 pounder. YAY! I actually keep an awesome set of kettlebells that I got from Amazon under my desk at work. It’s all about creating healthy habits.

18. Start Shopping at ALDI
Each and every Sunday afternoon, at approximately 12:15 pm, I have a very hot date. This is a date that I do not like to break. That very special date is with a German grocery store, named ALDI.
I discovered the magic of Aldi in early 2021 on my journey toward better health and weight loss. I am madly in love with Aldi Foods for so many reasons. The variety of different foods, immense savings and the product quality are just a few of my favorite benefits. ALDI makes it so easy to make healthy choices.
I honestly feel like I’ve won the lottery every time I stand at the checkout counter and the cashier announces my total. It is truly unbelievable!

19. Ditch the Fat-Free and Low-Fat Foods
FAT-FREE absolutely does not mean CRAP-FREE!
FAT-FREE and LOW-FAT were the ultimate BUZZWORDS of the 1990’s after it became widely accepted that fat was a “bad” nutrient. People believed that fats made you fat . And, since fat has 9 calories per gram, while carbohydrates and protein each provide only 4 calories per gram, it makes sense on paper that fat causes weight gain!
But… here’s the real deal. The popular fat-free era, flooded with fad diets, actually made Americans heavier. This is because foods that are LABELED (another very deceptive practice in the food industry) fat-free, reduced fat, low-fat, diet, or sugar-free don’t equate to calorie-free or CRAP-FREE!
Once you take all the fat out of these foods they seriously taste terrible and that’s a BIG problem.
To compensate for the disgusting taste, they pour in tons of additives like salt, sugar, flour, thickeners and chemical fillers. These things make them WAY less healthy and seriously harmful to your body. Consuming even small amounts of unhealthy foods with added sugar can lead to weight gain. Additionally, blood sugar problems and an increased risk for heart disease could become health issues, as well.
Let’s stop the lies and start getting real! Fat is your friend and you can and absolutely should be using healthy full-fat foods to lose weight!
